Donald Trump has renewed his call for a peace deal to end the fighting in Gaza, though the prospects for diplomacy remain uncertain.
The US president posted on his social media platform within the last hour, marking his second public appeal for a ceasefire this weekend.
The statement came as Israeli airstrikes across Gaza killed at least 72 people, further intensifying the humanitarian crisis and raising doubts over the possibility of an imminent resolution.

Stalled Peace Efforts
Formal peace talks broke down in March after Israeli forces launched a major offensive in Gaza, derailing a fragile ceasefire agreement. Disputes over the terms of the truce and conditions for rebuilding the enclave have since prevented meaningful progress.
While intermittent negotiations have taken place behind closed doors, diplomatic sources say little headway has been made.
Israel maintains its operations are aimed at dismantling Hamas and preventing future attacks, while Palestinian officials accuse Israel of disproportionate force and collective punishment.
International Pressure Mounts
Trump’s latest intervention follows growing calls from the international community for both sides to de-escalate. The mounting civilian death toll and worsening humanitarian conditions in Gaza have fuelled demands for renewed ceasefire talks.
Despite Trump’s appeal, neither the Israeli government nor Hamas has publicly signalled any immediate shift in position.
Observers say that while US influence remains critical, any durable peace deal will require complex negotiations and guarantees from all sides—a prospect that currently appears distant amid ongoing violence.
