Former President Donald Trump has outpaced current President Joe Biden in May fundraising, amassing an impressive $141 million compared to Biden’s $85 million, as reported.
This fundraising success significantly widens the financial gap between the two rivals.
Despite the 81-year-old Biden having his second-best fundraising month, his campaign and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) still trail behind Trump’s totals.
The Biden campaign reported $212 million in cash on hand by the end of May, an increase from $192 million in April, as detailed by CNBC.
Biden’s campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, emphasized the growth in their donor base and the strategic importance of their fundraising efforts.
“Our strong and consistent fundraising program grew by millions of people in May, a clear sign of strong and growing enthusiasm for the President and Vice President every single month,” Rodriguez stated. ”

The money we continue to raise matters, and it’s helping the campaign build an operation that invests in reaching and winning the voters who will decide this election.”
Trump’s fundraising haul in May was bolstered by a significant surge following the historic guilty verdict in his Manhattan hush money trial. Just 24 hours after the May 30 verdict, his campaign received $53 million, making up 37.6% of the month’s total.
The Trump campaign, along with the Republican National Committee (RNC), also led April fundraising, bringing in $76 million compared to the Democrats’ $51 million.
However, Trump’s campaign has yet to disclose its cash on hand as of the end of May, which they are not required to report until July.
This fundraising disparity highlights the competitive financial landscape as both candidates gear up for the upcoming election, with Trump’s camp demonstrating a significant advantage in mobilizing financial support from their base.
