Former President Donald Trump delivered what he described as an “intellectual speech” on Wednesday, focusing on his strategy to address inflation.
Speaking in Asheville, North Carolina, Trump, 78, outlined his proposed measures to combat rising prices.
“A lot of people are devastated by what’s happened with inflation,” Trump said. “So we’re doing this as an intellectual speech. You’re all intellectuals today.”
Trump announced two key initiatives he plans to implement if re-elected. “On my first day back in the Oval Office, I will sign an executive order directing every cabinet secretary and agency head to use every tool and authority at their disposal to defeat inflation and bring consumer prices rapidly down,” he said.
The former president emphasized that this would be a comprehensive government effort to improve living standards and make American life more affordable. He set a high expectation for results, stating he expects “within the first 100 days, or much sooner than that.”
Additionally, Trump committed to cutting energy prices by 50% within his first year in office. “I am announcing today that, under my leadership, the US will commit to the ambitious goal of slashing energy and electricity prices by half, at least half,” Trump declared. He confidently achieved this goal “within 12 months, at a maximum of 18 months.”
