Former President Donald Trump momentarily left the protection of a bulletproof glass wall to assist a supporter experiencing a medical emergency during his rally on Wednesday.

The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. as Trump was addressing the crowd at the North Carolina Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame

The episode drew Trump’s attention as he noticed commotion from the crowd. Responding to the situation, Trump called for a doctor and paused his speech, saying, “A doctor, please,” while waiting for medical assistance.

He acknowledged the high temperature and the long wait endured by many supporters, stating, “It is very hot here, I notice. It is very hot. A lot of the people waited for days to get here. I understand it. Take your time, doctor, take your time, thank you.”

Trump then stepped away from the podium and descended from the stage to the crowd, where he located the distressed attendee, an elderly woman.

She was seen drinking water and appeared to be recovering. Trump approached her and gave her a hug. Her identity has not been publicly disclosed.

The crowd responded with chants of “We love Trump!” as he returned to the stage. The rally was particularly significant as it was Trump’s first outdoor event since a shooting incident in Butler, Pennsylvania, where a bullet grazed his ear at a previous rally.

Enhanced security measures at Wednesday’s event included bulletproof glass around the podium, storage containers around the perimeter, and snipers stationed on nearby rooftops.

He also criticized President Joe Biden, mocking him for his appearance at the beach and describing him as “angry” and “shouting” in his farewell address at the Democratic National Convention.

The rally concluded with Trump performing his signature two-fisted dance to the song “YMCA” before re-entering the crowd briefly and then disappearing behind a curtain.
