Trump Launches GoFundMe to Aid Hurricane Helene Victims, Raises Over $1 Million
Donald Trump raises over $1 million for Hurricane Helene victims after visiting Georgia’s hardest-hit areas.
Top donors include Kelly Loeffler, Bass Pro Shops, and UFC President Dana White.
As Trump criticises the federal response, President Joe Biden announces plans to visit North Carolina to assess damage from the storm, which has caused over 100 deaths.
“President Trump is on the ground to witness the aftermath firsthand,” the GoFundMe page stated. “All donations will go toward helping those most impacted by Hurricane Helene.”
Significant donations came from former U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler, who contributed $500,000, and Bass Pro Shops and UFC President Dana White, who each donated $100,000. Other prominent donors included billionaire hedge fund manager William Ackman and musician Kid Rock.
During his visit to Valdosta, Georgia, Trump criticised the federal response to the disaster and expressed solidarity with victims, stating, “Our hearts are with you, and we will be here for as long as it takes.”
President Biden accused Trump of misrepresenting the federal government’s coordination with Georgia and announced plans to visit North Carolina to assess the damage. As of Monday evening, the death toll from Hurricane Helene has risen to more than 100.
