A Democrat from Pennsylvania, Steve Rosenberg, has declared his intention to support former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election.
His decision stems from concerns over Israel’s security, stating that Trump’s stance on the issue is crucial for the survival of the Jewish community.
Speaking on “America’s Newsroom,” Rosenberg emphasised that there is only “one candidate” for Jewish voters, criticising far-left Democrats for their alignment with Iran. “If you’re a Jew, if you’re pro-Israel, there’s only one candidate here,” Rosenberg told host Dana Perino.
He went on to accuse members of Vice President Kamala Harris’s team, including Maher Bitar and Philip Gordon, of being pro-Iran and not supportive of Israel.
Rosenberg’s remarks reflect a broader concern that some Jewish Americans have regarding U.S. foreign policy toward Israel. “We are in the fight for our literal lives,” he said, arguing that while issues such as climate change and abortion are important, they pale in comparison to the existential threat he believes Israel faces.
Vice President Harris addressed the National Association of Black Journalists in Philadelphia, touched on the ongoing conflict in Israel, and called for urgent action. “We need to get this deal done, and we need to get it done immediately,” Harris said without specifying which deal she was referring to.
Rosenberg speculated that she may have suggested a two-state solution, which he vehemently opposed.
According to a recent Fox News poll, Trump appears to have gained ground with voters who prioritise the outcome of the Israel-Hamas war. The poll showed that 52% of voters trusted Trump to better handle the conflict, compared to 45% for Harris.
Rosenberg also noted that some Jewish voters remain hesitant to openly support Trump, citing concerns over the January 6th Capitol riot. “Some are afraid to say that they’re going to support Donald Trump for whatever the reasons are,” he said, adding that the daily challenges faced by the country outweigh what he sees as exaggerated concerns over that event.
Trump, addressing Jewish voters at the Israeli-American Council summit in Washington, D.C., reaffirmed his support for Israel. “It’s destruction… You have a big protector in me,” he stated, positioning himself as a staunch ally of the Jewish state.
Rosenberg concluded his remarks by recounting his recent trip to Israel, where he claimed that every Israeli he spoke to urged him to vote for Trump.
