The Trump campaign is criticising billionaire Mark Cuban, a prominent surrogate for Vice President Kamala Harris, for making “extremely insulting” remarks about women who support former President Trump. They are calling on Harris to “immediately condemn” his comments.

On Thursday, Cuban appeared on ABC’s ‘The View’, stating, “Donald Trump, you never see him around strong, intelligent women. Ever. It’s just that simple. They’re intimidating to him. He doesn’t like to be challenged by them.”

In response, Trump campaign national press secretary Karoline Leavitt condemned Cuban’s remarks, stating, “Joe Biden called Trump supporters ‘garbage,’ and now Kamala’s top surrogate Mark Cuban insinuated female Trump supporters are ‘weak and dumb.’ This is extremely insulting to the thousands of women who work for President Trump and the tens of millions of women who are voting for him.”

Leavitt emphasised Trump supporters’ diverse backgrounds, noting, “These women are mothers, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders, and they are, indeed, strong and intelligent, despite what Mark Cuban and Kamala Harris say.”

She also claimed that “the joy at Kamala HQ has been replaced by division, vitriol, and a disturbing level of disrespect for the millions of Americans who are supporting President Trump after four years of destruction under Kamala Harris.” Leavitt argued that women want a president who prioritises issues like border security and economic stability, asserting that they support Trump.

The Harris campaign has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding Cuban’s remarks. This incident follows President Biden’s recent comments during a Zoom call with Voto Latino, where he referred to Trump supporters as “garbage.” Although the White House later claimed the comment was taken out of context, Biden’s remark has drawn significant criticism.

In a separate statement, Vice President Harris remarked, “I strongly disagree with any criticism of people based on who they vote for. I believe that my work is about representing all the people, whether they support me or not.”

At a rally in Wisconsin on Wednesday, Trump addressed the controversy by driving around in a “Make America Great Again” garbage truck and wearing a garbage worker’s high-visibility vest. He stated, “He called them garbage — and they mean it, even though, without question, my supporters are far higher quality than Crooked Joe and Lyin’ Kamala.”

Trump concluded with a pointed remark directed at Biden and Harris: “My response to Joe and Kamala is straightforward: You can’t lead America if you don’t love Americans. And you can’t be president if you hate the American people, and there’s a lot of hatred there.”
