Trump Calls for Unity and Resilience After Rally Shooting: ‘Do Not Let Evil Win’
Former President Donald Trump, 78, was holding a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a sniper fired up to eight rounds, leaving Trump bloodied at his ear, killing at least one spectator, and injuring two others.
“Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as God alone prevented the unthinkable from happening. We will FEAR NOT, but instead remain resilient in our Faith and Defiant in the face of Wickedness,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“At this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand united and show our true character as Americans, remaining strong and determined and not allowing evil to win. I truly love our Country.”
Trump emphasized that “our love goes out to the other victims and their families.” His team has set up a fundraiser for the victims.
The suspect has been identified as 20-year-old Pennsylvanian Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was neutralized by the Secret Service, according to law enforcement.
Despite the incident, Trump confirmed his intention to participate in the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee from Monday through Thursday.
