A tragic event occurred in Florida over the Christmas break when 14-year-old Damarcus Coley shot and killed his sister, Abrielle Baldwin, due to a family argument about Christmas gifts. When the terrible incident happened, 23-year-old Abrielle was holding her 10-month-old child.

Amid the heated argument, Damarcus went so far as to threaten his sister and her infant son. Tragically, the situation took a devastating turn when he shot Abrielle in the chest. In a quick and courageous response, Abrielle’s 15-year-old brother, Darcus Coley, retaliated by attacking Damascus in the stomach.

Darcus hastily left the scene, abandoning his firearm nearby. Damascus, now in stable condition, is expected to face charges of first-degree murder, child abuse, and delinquency in possession of a gun upon his release from the hospital. Meanwhile, Darcus, who has been transported to a mental health facility, is slated to be charged with attempted first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

The unfortunate incident unfolded at their grandmother’s residence following a family outing for Christmas shopping. A dispute erupted over the distribution of gifts, escalating from a store disagreement to a tragic event at the grandmother’s home. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri confirmed that the root cause of the argument was jealousy, with Darcus expressing discontent over their mother favouring Damarcus due to perceived superior skills.

The aftermath of this heartbreaking event has left the entire family in a state of shock and profound grief. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating the case. However, it is worth noting that the firearm used by Darcus in the incident on 22nd Avenue in Largo remains undiscovered at this time.
