TLC Postpones Concerts as T-Boz is Hospitalized for ‘Severe Abdominal Blockage’
Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, a member of the iconic girl group TLC, experienced a severe medical emergency that cancelled two scheduled concerts over the weekend.
The 54-year-old singer was hospitalized for what has been diagnosed as a “severe abdominal blockage,” according to a statement the group shared on their Instagram Story.
The medical issue arose after TLC’s energetic performance in Toledo, Ohio, on Thursday. The group was scheduled to perform next at the New York State Fair in Syracuse.
Still, upon arrival, T-Boz began experiencing sudden and intense symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal cramps.
A doctor promptly saw her, and she was subsequently taken to the hospital for further evaluation.
“Last evening, Tionne was diagnosed with a severe abdominal blockage, necessitating the cancellation of both the Syracuse and Foxwoods performances,” the group’s statement explained.
“She remains in the hospital under medical supervision but is expected to be released tomorrow. The doctor verified this was not food poisoning, but an abdominal blockage.”
TLC expressed deep regret over the cancellations and extended its apologies to fans and event promoters. The group also assured fans it is committed to rescheduling the two cancelled shows.
In a personal update on Instagram, T-Boz reassured fans that she is “on the mend.” She acknowledged the situation as one of those unexpected events beyond her control and expressed her eagerness to make it up to her fans. “I look forward to making it up to all of you…and hopefully, I’ll get out of the hospital soon,” she added, noting that she could be discharged as early as tomorrow if all goes well.
This isn’t the first time TLC rescheduled shows due to health issues. In May, the group postponed four shows in Canada after T-Boz and other members of their touring band contracted the flu.
At that time, the group released a statement expressing their regret and explaining that T-Boz had lost her voice and was advised by doctors not to perform.
TLC’s fans have shown support and understanding as T-Boz recovers, and the group remains hopeful to get back on stage soon.
