Thousands of people took to the streets of Dublin yesterday in a major pro-Palestine protest, with demonstrators travelling from across the country, including Kildare and Galway, to take part.
Organisers described the demonstration as one of the largest of its kind to date. The Irish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (IPSC), which led the march, used the event to call for an immediate end to what it labelled as “the genocide” in Gaza.
The group also reiterated its demand for the Irish Government to impose sanctions on Israel and to pass the Occupied Territories Bill, which would ban trade with Israeli settlements deemed illegal under international law.
The protest began at 1pm, with crowds gathering at the Garden of Remembrance before marching to Molesworth Street, where a rally was held outside Leinster House.
Speakers at the event called for increased political pressure on Israel and greater Irish support for Palestinian rights.
