Actress Kelley Mack, best known for her role in The Walking Dead, has died aged 33 following a battle with glioma, a rare and aggressive form of cancer affecting the central nervous system.
Her family confirmed her death in a heartfelt post shared to her official social media accounts on Tuesday, writing:
“It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.”
Mack passed away peacefully on Saturday evening, August 2, surrounded by her mother Kristen and aunt Karen in Ohio. Her family said she had come to loved ones in the form of butterflies and would be missed beyond words.

Originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, Mack was born Kelley Klebenow and had been living in Los Angeles for the past 11 years after graduating with a degree in cinematography.
She gained prominence for her portrayal of Addy in season nine of AMC’s post-apocalyptic drama The Walking Dead. She went on to appear in shows like Chicago Med and 9-1-1, and built a career that spanned both screen and commercial work — including ads for Dr. Pepper, Dairy Queen, Chick-fil-A, and a recent Rakuten commercial alongside her mother.
Tributes have poured in across social media from fans, colleagues, and friends.
Director Michael E. Satrazemis wrote:
“I was lucky enough to create with Kelley on TWD. A bright light on every level. All my love to those who love her.”
Actor Anthony Michael Lopez said she was “a sweet and happy soul,” while The Walking Dead castmate Gustavo Gomez described her as “a bright light” whose spirit “will always shine on.”
In addition to acting, Mack was a producer and is set to appear posthumously in the upcoming feature film Universal, which she also co-produced. Just weeks before her passing, she had celebrated the film’s world premiere announcement at the Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Since her diagnosis, Mack had shared updates with her followers. Her final Instagram post in March reflected on the challenges she faced:
“Overall, this journey has not been easy, but things are getting better — improvements are tough to see when you’re in the thick of it. Thank you again and again for the support and prayers.”
In a tribute, her family described her as “known for her warmth, creativity, and unwavering support for those around her,” adding that she cherished time with loved ones, storytelling, hiking, biking, piano, pickleball, and travel.

Kelley Mack is survived by her parents Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow, siblings Kathryn and Parker, grandparents Lois and Larry, and her partner, Logan. A celebration of life will be held in Ohio next week.
