Travel & Leisure unveiled its “25 Best Beaches in the USA” list, featuring two iconic New York City entries but overlooking Long Island’s renowned coastal gems.
Brooklyn’s Coney Island and Rockaway Beach in Queens are surprising options thanks to their extensive boardwalks and diverse recreational offerings amid the bustling cityscape.

Coney Island offers a nostalgic seaside experience with attractions like the New York Aquarium, sports facilities, and renowned amusement parks.
Meanwhile, Rockaway Beach, once a favoured haunt of legendary band The Ramones, has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years, revitalising its historic Jacob Riis bathhouse and the emergence of trendy establishments.

The Rockaway Hotel and its pool, which opened in 2020, have increased the attractiveness of Rockaway Beach. Its high-end amenities attract sophisticated visitors seeking a luxurious coastal experience.
Despite recognising these urban beach hubs, questions linger about the omission of Long Island’s Coopers Beach in South Hampton, a perennial favourite in national l rankings and a top contender in DDrBeach’s evaluations.

Beach enthusiasts noticed the absence of the scenic Fire Island National Seashore, home to iconic lighthouse and picturesque trails, resulting in speculation.
In contrast, Park Point Beach in Duluth, Minnesota, secured a spot, adding to the eclectic mix of coastal destinations recognised by Travel & Leisure for their unique offerings.
