A teenager was brutally stabbed, punched, and kicked in a transphobic attack orchestrated by a group of youths she considered her friends.
The assault took place in a Harrow car park after her transgender identity was revealed, the Old Bailey heard.
The victim, who was 18 at the time, was lured to the location under the pretence of attending a roller disco.
She was ambushed by a masked mob that included Summer Betts-Ramsey, 20, Bradley Harris, 18, Camron Osei, 18, Shiloh Hindes, 18, and a 17-year-old boy, all of whom have admitted to causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
Betts-Ramsey also admitted to possessing a knife, while a 17-year-old girl confessed to robbing the victim’s handbag and possessing a Class B drug.
The attack stemmed from the revelation that the victim was transgender, which led to a dispute within the group on Snapchat.
Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC explained that the woman had previously been attacked due to her transgender identity and initially denied being transgender when confronted by Harris. However, she later admitted it after being threatened with a knife.
Harris informed the group about her identity, prompting heated discussions in their Snapchat group.
Betts-Ramsey reportedly told someone, “I have to go to Harrow to beat up some… a f****** tranny bro,” phone evidence revealed.
On February 10, the victim believed she was meeting the group for a roller-skating event. Instead, she was ambushed by the masked group, who immediately attacked her. Betts-Ramsey stabbed her 14 times while others punched and kicked her in an assault that lasted 45 seconds.
The victim, left with severe stab wounds and a weak pulse, was rushed to the hospital after witnesses called for help. Following the attack, members of the group bragged about their actions on social media, with Betts-Ramsey responding to criticism by saying, “IT deserved it.”
In a victim impact statement, the woman described how the attack left her with thick scars, panic attacks, and a constant fear of leaving her house.
She said, “I never thought someone could have so much hatred towards me,” adding that she fears her injuries may affect her career as a model.
Betts-Ramsey, from Barnet, Harris, from Harrow, Osei, from Tadworth, Surrey, Hindes, from Southwark, and the 17-year-old boy will face sentencing in a hearing that continues on Thursdays.
