In a distressing incident, 17-year-old Mashenka Reid was apprehended following an alleged shooting in their Reno apartment, where her father and young brother were found deceased. According to court documents, Reid reportedly confessed to 911, stating, “I just couldn’t resist.”

Reid’s father and brother, described as a 4- or 5-year-old boy, were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds. Fortunately, Reid’s younger sister survived by hiding in a locked bedroom and was eventually rescued by law enforcement.

The initial 911 call, reporting gunfire and pleas for help, came from a concerned neighbour. Reid subsequently dialled 911 herself, reportedly admitting to the tragic events.

Reportedly, the suspected murder weapon, a Walther PPS, was discarded within the apartment premises. Responding officers detained Reid at the scene, uncovering the grim scene.

Facing severe charges as an adult, including two counts of open murder and an additional count of attempted murder with a deadly weapon, Reid awaits a bail hearing scheduled for Thursday. Meanwhile, investigations into the heartbreaking incident continue.
