A South Carolina man has been arrested after allegedly admitting to knowingly exposing a woman to HIV without telling her — and authorities say she is now seven months pregnant with his child.
Christopher Miller, from Mauldin, was taken into custody on July 12 and charged with unlawful exposure to HIV and financial identity fraud, according to local outlet WHNS.
Police were called to Miller’s apartment following reports of a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers say Miller initially gave them a false identity in an apparent attempt to evade outstanding arrest warrants.
During questioning, the suspect reportedly confessed that he had deliberately withheld his HIV status from the woman. He told investigators he didn’t want her to know he was HIV-positive, according to the arrest report.
Authorities confirmed that the woman — whose identity has not been released — is currently seven months pregnant and expecting to give birth to Miller’s child in the coming weeks.
Miller remains in police custody as the investigation continues.
