A large-scale search operation involving land, sea and air has failed to locate a missing British man who vanished in Spain nearly a month ago.
Matthew Chapman, 24, from Manchester, was last known to be in Tossa de Mar, a popular coastal resort around 62 miles north of Barcelona.
His van was found abandoned at a scenic viewpoint near the town, with no sign of his phone or keys inside.
Chapman had reportedly been travelling through Spain and Portugal before arriving in France via the Eurotunnel on April 30. His mobile phone was last traced to locations in Spain and Portugal on May 2 and May 4, before the signal was lost near Tossa de Mar.

Catalan police located his vehicle roughly a kilometre outside Tossa, on a road towards Sant Feliu de Guíxols. In response, a major two-day search effort was launched last week using helicopters, drones and rescue teams.
A spokesperson for Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan regional police, confirmed: “It was a land, sea and air search which took place on Wednesday and Thursday. The investigation into the missing man’s whereabouts is continuing.”
Chapman’s disappearance was reported by his family on April 30. Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities and are continuing to examine all available leads.
According to Catalan officials, 3,785 disappearances were investigated across the region last year, with 98% of cases successfully resolved.
Anyone with information about Matthew Chapman’s whereabouts is urged to contact local police.
