Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has received a concerning diagnosis of malignant melanoma just six months after undergoing a mastectomy for breast cancer. Despite the distressing news, the 64-year-old Duchess is maintaining good spirits, according to her spokesperson.
In a statement issued on Sunday, it was revealed that Sarah had initially faced an early form of breast cancer earlier in the summer. Subsequently, during reconstructive surgery following her mastectomy, dermatologists identified and analyzed multiple moles, with one being found cancerous.
The Duchess thanked her medical team, especially her vigilant dermatologist, for detecting the illness early. Emphasizing the importance of monitoring moles for size, shape, colour, texture, and new emergence, she is now undergoing further investigations to ensure early detection of melanoma.
While the back-to-back diagnoses have been distressing, Sarah Ferguson remains resilient and optimistic about her ongoing treatment journey.
