Low-cost carrier Ryanair is suing the UK’s air traffic control provider, NATS, for £5 million in damages.
The lawsuit follows a technical error made by an engineer working from home, which caused widespread disruptions to air travel.
According to reports, the mistake resulted in delays and cancellations, affecting approximately 700,000 travelers. Ryanair claims that the error was due to NATS’ inadequate procedures and lack of proper oversight.
The airline seeks compensation for the significant losses incurred due to the disruptions. The case is ongoing, and NATS has yet to comment.
The incident has raised concerns about the reliability of air traffic control systems and the impact of remote work on critical infrastructure.
