A Ryanair flight from Liverpool to Tenerife was diverted mid-air due to a disruptive passenger causing problems for the crew. The incident caused a delay in the holiday plans of several tourists when the flight had to make an emergency landing in Santiago de Compostela, northwest Spain.
The trouble began on Wednesday evening when a rowdy passenger created a disturbance, prompting the crew to call for police assistance.
According to reports, the Boeing 737 contacted the Spanish airport about a “conflictive passenger on board” before diverting from its original destination.
Upon landing, emergency services were waiting on the tarmac.

A spokesperson for Ryanair confirmed, “This flight from Liverpool to Tenerife (4 Jul) diverted to Santiago after a passenger became disruptive onboard.
The crew called ahead for police assistance, and local police met the aircraft upon arrival, who removed this passenger before this flight continued to Tenerife. This is now a matter for local police.”
It remains unclear whether any arrests were made.
This disruption occurred just hours after an EasyJet flight from Gatwick Airport to Tenerife was forced to return and make an emergency landing following a hydraulic failure over the Bay of Biscay.
Some passengers claimed that a group of tourists on the EasyJet flight were being disruptive. The aircrew warned them that unruly behaviour would result in their removal from the replacement flight.
