Ruth Langsford, 64, Teases ‘This Morning’ Comeback as She Arrives in Brisbane for ‘I’m A Celebrity’ Spin-Off
Former This Morning host Ruth Langsford has suggested she might consider returning to the ITV program, saying, “Never say never,” after touching down in Brisbane, Australia, on Thursday.
The 64-year-old presenter, a long-standing Friday show host, is in the country to appear on the spin-off series I’m A Celebrity: Unpacked.
Langsford’s trip follows a tumultuous period in her personal and professional life. Earlier this year, she announced her separation from Eamonn Holmes, her husband of 14 years and co-host on This Morning for more than a decade. The couple’s high-profile partnership ended in 2020 when Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary replaced them in their Friday slot.
Langsford’s potential return to This Morning comes as the show undergoes significant changes, including the resignation of its longtime editor, Martin Frizell. Frizell, 65, recently stepped down after 10 years, citing a desire to spend more time with his wife, Fiona Phillips, who is battling Alzheimer’s disease.
Asked about her possible comeback, Langsford remained non-committal but open, stating, “I haven’t been there for two years, so I don’t take much notice but never say never.”
Her arrival in Brisbane is also tied to her support for her friends and campmates Jane Moore, 62, and Grace Keeling (known as GK Barry), 25, participating in this I’m A Celebrity season. Langsford is expected to provide behind-the-scenes insights on the camp dynamics to the spin-off show’s hosts, Joel Dommett, Kemi Rodgers, and Sam Thompson.
The trip marks Langsford’s first visit to Australia during what she described as a challenging year. A source close to the presenter told The Sun that the opportunity to join the spin-off show has been a “welcome distraction” after her split from Holmes.
Meanwhile, Holmes, 64, has moved on with relationship counsellor Katie Alexander, 43. The couple made their first public appearance together at The Irish Post Awards. According to sources, Alexander has been supportive during Holmes’ adjustment to life post-divorce.
Despite the upheaval, Langsford looks forward to spending time in Australia and cheering on her fellow Loose Women panellists. She said about the contestants, “I’m rooting for Jane and Grace. Maybe there’ll be two Queens of the Jungle this year.”
Langsford’s involvement in the spin-off series is expected to add star power to the revamped format, and ITV executives have expressed excitement about her contribution.
As the festive season approaches, Langsford appears poised to make the most of her time Down Under, professionally and personally, while keeping the possibility of returning to her former role at This Morning on the table.
