Eastern reactions emerge
Following responses from major Western powers, reactions to Donald Trump’s new plan for the Middle East are now coming from the East.
Russia, currently engaged in its own conflict in Ukraine despite US mediation efforts, expressed support for Trump’s proposal.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters: “Russia always supports and welcomes any efforts by Trump aimed at ending the tragedy that is currently unfolding. And, of course, we want this plan to be implemented and for it to help bring events in the Middle East to a peaceful conclusion.”
Russia urges a peaceful resolution.
Moscow has historically backed a two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and has voiced criticism of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.
Analysts say Russia’s endorsement signals a broader interest in positioning itself as a key player in regional peace efforts.
China calls for an immediate ceasefire.
Meanwhile, China has urged all parties involved to “immediately achieve a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza, release all detainees and alleviate the humanitarian disaster in the region as soon as possible.”

Foreign ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun added that Beijing continues to support a two-state solution and is ready to cooperate with the international community to achieve a “comprehensive, just, and lasting resolution of the Palestinian issue.”
Global context
Both Russia’s and China’s statements come as the international community closely monitors the situation in Gaza, with rising concerns over civilian casualties and humanitarian needs.
Experts say the statements reflect a growing desire among Eastern powers to influence negotiations and humanitarian relief efforts in the region.
