Ricky Gervais and Miranda Hart lead tributes after The Office star Ewen MacIntosh dies aged 50

Ewen MacIntosh, who played Keith in the UK version of The Office, passed away at 50. His talent agency has confirmed the news and stated that he died peacefully. The actor and comedian was known for his unique talent and was admired by his co-stars and fans. He was described as an “absolutely original” and a “hilarious and charming”.

Ricky Gervais, who co-created and starred in The Office, tweeted: “I’m so sad to hear about Ewen MacIntosh.

He was an absolute original. Very funny and very lovely. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. RIP Keith.”

Miranda Hart, who worked with MacIntosh on her sitcom Miranda, also paid tribute on Instagram. She wrote: “I am so sad to hear of the passing of Ewen MacIntosh.

He was a joy to work with on Miranda. He always made us laugh with his brilliant improvisations and lovely, gentle nature. He was a tremendous talent and a wonderful human being. Sending love to his family and friends.”

MacIntosh played the role of Keith, the deadpan accountant, in The Office from 2001 to 2003. He also appeared in Little Britain, Extras, and The IT Crowd. He was also a stand-up comedian and a DJ.

His talent agency, RBM Comedy, said, “It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of our client and friend, Ewen MacIntosh. Ewen died peacefully at home with his family by his side.

He was a fantastic actor and comic performer and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.”
