Revenue officers in Dublin have intercepted a significant quantity of herbal cannabis and cannabis resin with an estimated street value of almost €1.7 million.
The seizures, originating from parcels traced back to Spain, resulted from meticulous risk profiling conducted at premises in Dublin throughout the past week.
In total, 82 kilograms of herbal cannabis and 9 kilograms of cannabis resin were confiscated by Revenue officers during the operation.
The parcels were intended for delivery to various addresses across Leinster, indicating a widespread distribution network for the illicit substances.
Revenue has emphasized that these seizures are part of their continuous efforts to combat smuggling and tackle shadow economic activities within the region.
An ongoing investigation is underway, as confirmed by a spokesperson from Revenue, indicating that further actions may be taken to dismantle the illegal operations involved in the trafficking of narcotics.
