Princess Kate to Attend Trooping the Colour Parade Amid Cancer Battle
Kate Middleton has announced that she will attend the time-honoured Trooping the Colour parade this weekend, marking her first public appearance since revealing her battle with cancer in an emotional statement on Friday.
The 42-year-old mother of three disclosed that she has been undergoing chemotherapy since March for an unspecified form of cancer, detailing her journey through both the challenging and hopeful moments of her treatment.
“In my recovery from chemotherapy, there are good days and bad days,” Middleton shared in her statement. “On the bad days, I feel weak and tired, needing to rest. But on the good days, when I feel stronger, I want to embrace those moments fully.”
Despite her ongoing health challenges, Middleton expressed her determination to attend the ceremony honouring the king’s birthday alongside her family.
She acknowledged the fluctuating nature of her condition, emphasizing her commitment to recovery and fulfilling her royal duties. “While I look forward to participating in The King’s Birthday Parade and some public engagements this summer, I remain vigilant and aware that my journey is still ongoing,” she stated.
Advising on her decision-making process regarding public appearances, Middleton highlighted the importance of listening to her body and exercising patience amidst uncertainty.
“I’m learning to take each day as it comes and to allow myself the necessary time for healing,” she noted.
Her resilience and openness about her health journey underscored a message of courage and perseverance.
The Duchess of Cambridge personally informed King Charles of her intention to attend the parade, a spokesperson from Buckingham Palace confirmed.
“His Majesty is delighted that The Princess can attend tomorrow’s events and looks forward to the day’s festivities,” the spokesperson conveyed, reflecting the royal family’s support and encouragement.
Last week, Middleton regretted the Irish Guards for missing a critical rehearsal ahead of the parade, featuring over a thousand soldiers, horses, and a Royal Air Force flyover in London.
Appointed as the honorary Colonel of the Irish Guards by King Charles last year, Middleton’s involvement underscores her longstanding dedication to her royal responsibilities.
Since revealing her cancer diagnosis, Middleton has largely withdrawn from public view, prompting speculation about her future role.
Sources close to her have indicated that her return to public life may not resemble her previous engagements due to ongoing treatment considerations. “She’s re-evaluating what she can take on as she undergoes preventive chemotherapy,” a source disclosed.
I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times.

Middleton’s candid announcement about her health challenges came via a pre-recorded video on March 22, addressing concerns about her absence from public engagements.
She expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support and emphasized her commitment to navigating this difficult period with grace and grit.
