The Metropolitan Police has opened an investigation into explosive allegations that Prince Andrew used his royal connections to involve the force in an attempt to discredit his teenage sex accuser, Virginia Giuffre.
Email Reveals Prince’s Request for Personal Data
A bombshell email obtained by The Mail on Sunday reveals that the Duke allegedly instructed one of his taxpayer-funded bodyguards to investigate Ms Giuffre, providing the officer with her date of birth and confidential U.S. social security number.

Andrew is said to have informed Ed Perkins, then Deputy Press Secretary to Queen Elizabeth II, that he had asked a member of the elite SO14 Royalty Protection Group to look into Giuffre’s background hours before the now-infamous photo of him with the then 17-year-old was first published.
Use of Police Connection Sparks Outrage
In the email, the Duke reportedly wrote: “It would also seem she has a criminal record in the United States. I have given her DoB and social security number for investigation with XXX, the on-duty PPO.”
While it is not suggested that the officer acted on the request, Ms Giuffre’s family strongly denied any criminal record, calling the claims “an attempt to defame a survivor.”
“The truth will surface and there will be no shadows in which they can hide,” her relatives said.
Met Confirms Active Review
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson confirmed the force is “aware of media reporting and actively looking into the claims made.” The inquiry adds new pressure on Andrew, who was recently stripped of all remaining honorary titles following renewed scrutiny over his friendship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

Call for Full Investigation into Data Use
Ms Giuffre’s family has urged King Charles to strip Andrew of his princely title and demanded answers about how her private data was obtained. Despite repeated requests, the Duke has not explained how he came to possess Ms Giuffre’s nine-digit social security number described by experts as “the key to someone’s life.”
Legal Experts Condemn ‘Despicable’ Conduct
Prominent human rights barrister Dr Charlotte Proudman condemned Andrew’s alleged actions as “utterly despicable and reprehensible,” warning that there “could be legal implications.”

“This shows Prince Andrew using his taxpayer-funded police connections to dig up dirt on a survivor of sex trafficking. It’s a gross violation of privacy that demands investigation,” she added.
Victims’ Lawyers Join Growing Outcry
Florida-based lawyer Spencer Kuvin, who represented several Epstein victims, said the revelations highlight “the oldest play in the book, smearing a survivor.”
“Andrew refuses to accept accountability. Authorities must examine whether he broke any laws,” he told reporters.
‘Epstein Files’ Reveal Chain of Emails
The revelations come from a cache of documents dubbed “The Epstein Files,” now reportedly in the hands of the U.S. Congress. They include communications between Andrew, Epstein, and Ghislaine Maxwell spanning several years.
In one email exchange, Andrew expressed fury over a 2011 Mail on Sunday interview with Ms Giuffre and sought advice from Epstein on how to respond.

Andrew’s Reaction to Emerging Allegations
When the now-infamous photograph of the Duke with Ms Giuffre was shown to him before publication, Andrew acknowledged it but made no suggestion it was fake. He later told the BBC’s Newsnight he had “no recollection” of meeting her — a claim widely disputed.
Serious Questions Over Data Source
A legal source quoted by the MoS asked: “How did Andrew obtain Virginia’s social security number? Was it obtained legally? If passed to the Met, it could have unlocked her entire private world.”
The revelation has raised serious data protection concerns both in the UK and internationally.
Epstein’s Advice: Discredit the Accuser
Emails reportedly show Epstein coaching Andrew on how to undermine Ms Giuffre’s credibility. In one message, Epstein claimed he would secure a statement from a judge suggesting Ms Giuffre “lacked credibility.”
Another email suggested Andrew highlight a past theft allegation against Ms Giuffre — though her family insist she had no criminal record.

Giuffre’s Troubled Past and Abuse Claims
Giuffre had a difficult childhood and was abused by a family friend before being recruited by Maxwell while working at Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort. She was trafficked and sexually exploited by Epstein from 1999 to 2002, she later said.
Public and Legal Backlash Intensifies

The emerging evidence paints a damning portrait of how Andrew and Epstein coordinated responses to allegations. “Smearing victims is the oldest tactic of power,” said solicitor Mark Stephens, an expert in privacy law. “The public deserves a transparent investigation.”
Reaction Across the UK and Ireland
The revelations have reignited debate in Ireland over accountability within the British monarchy. Legal observers in Dublin said the case “further damages public trust in royal institutions,” while victim advocacy groups called for “independent scrutiny of any UK police involvement.”
Loss of Titles and Continued Fallout
Following the mounting pressure, Andrew has relinquished his remaining titles, including membership of the Order of the Garter. Once styled as the Duke of York, he now faces growing calls for permanent removal from public duties.
Emails Show Growing Panic Inside Palace Circles

Further leaked emails indicate Andrew’s tone shifted from defiance to despair as media attention grew. “We are somewhat at a loss as to how to deal with this,” he wrote to Epstein in 2011. “No one else has sparked at the story here, which is a good thing.”
Andrew’s Continued Denial
Despite the mounting evidence, Prince Andrew continues to vehemently deny all allegations of sexual misconduct. During his BBC interview, he said he did not regret his friendship with Epstein, calling it “an opportunity to learn.”
Epstein’s Final Word on Andrew
Epstein himself, in a 2015 email to former UK politician Peter Mandelson, reportedly conceded that his connection to Andrew “would come to no good end.”
The remark now appears prophetic amid the fresh Metropolitan Police probe and public condemnation.
Public and Victim Advocates Demand Accountability
Advocacy groups for survivors of sexual abuse have renewed demands for the Met Police to act swiftly and transparently. “This is about power, privilege, and accountability,” said one UK campaigner. “If the law is to mean anything, it must apply equally.”
Met’s Review Under Close Watch
The Met has said it will review the evidence before determining whether a formal criminal inquiry is necessary. A decision is expected within weeks, though campaigners warn against “another whitewash.”
Giuffre’s Family: ‘She Deserves the Truth’
In a statement released through family representatives, Ms Giuffre’s brother said: “We’ve shed both happy and sad tears. Virginia’s truth is vindicated. She fought for justice, and we will continue that fight.”
A Growing Scandal with Global Reach
The unfolding revelations continue to shock both sides of the Atlantic and have reignited public scrutiny of royal privilege in Ireland and the UK alike. The case, once dismissed by many, now sits at the heart of an international call for justice.
