Former President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump received a thunderous ovation as they attended the Commander-in-Chief Ball on Monday night.

The event marked the first of three exclusive inaugural balls, part of the longstanding tradition to conclude a day of ceremonies and first-day presidential actions in Washington.

A Striking Entrance
The 54-year-old first lady dazzled attendees in a black-and-white strapless gown paired with white high-heeled shoes and a black choker adorned with a floral brooch. The dress was reportedly designed by Hervé Pierre, the same couturier who created her 2017 Inauguration Ball gown. President Trump complemented her in a black tuxedo and bow tie.

The couple danced together before being joined on stage by Vice President JD Vance, Second Lady Usha Vance, and members of the armed forces, with whom they shared a waltz.
Honoring Service Members
During the ball, Trump addressed the cheering crowd, saying:
“I’ve had no higher privilege in life than to serve as your commander in chief, not once but twice.”
The event also featured a video call with US service members in South Korea. Upon seeing them, Trump quipped,
“How’s Kim Jong Un doing?”
The former president went on to call the North Korean leader a “tough cookie” but noted their “pretty good relationship.”

A Memorable Cake-Cutting Moment
Before leaving the stage, Trump used a sword to cut the event’s massive cake, which bore his preferred Air Force One design. Holding the sword, Trump danced as “YMCA” played over the speakers, delighting the crowd.
Liberty Ball Highlights
At the second event, the Liberty Ball, the first couple entered to “Hallelujah” by Elvis Presley, briefly danced, and were later joined by Trump’s grown children and their spouses. In his remarks, Trump vowed to “turn this country around and fast” while touting the strength of his supporters.
“We have assets like nobody else,” he declared, adding, “We needed three [balls] because there’s such support.”
A Long-Standing Tradition
The first inaugural ball dates back to 1809, held for President James Madison and his wife Dolley, according to the White House Historical Association. The tradition continues as an elegant capstone to the inauguration festivities.

Trump’s third and final ball of the evening further underscored the celebratory spirit of the day, with promises of swift action and national renewal
