A recent poll from CBS News/YouGov reveals that 70% of Americans believe President Trump is fulfilling the promises he made during his campaign.
This has led to a 53% approval rating for the president, indicating strong support for his actions thus far.
Key decisions, such as deportation efforts (59% approval), and the deployment of troops to the US-Mexico border (64% approval), have received significant backing. Furthermore, 54% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war.
However, Trump’s actions have faced criticism from Democrats, particularly regarding his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) headed by Elon Musk.
While Democrats have questioned Trump’s adherence to campaign promises, many Americans favour Musk’s influence on government operations.
A substantial portion of respondents, 23%, want Musk to significantly impact the administration’s decisions.
Despite the positive poll results, there are challenges. A 52% majority is opposed to Trump’s plans for large deportation facilities, and 66% believe he is not focusing enough on lowering the cost of living. Additionally, 47% disapprove of Trump’s idea to take over the Gaza Strip.
The CBS News/YouGov poll surveyed 2,175 adults from February 5-7, with a margin of error of ±2.5%.
