President Joe Biden assured Democratic governors on Wednesday night that he is in good health after undergoing a medical checkup following last week’s problematic debate.
According to a White House aide, the visit was a brief assessment of an apparent lingering cold and not a comprehensive physical exam.

“No range of tests was performed to assess the president’s overall health,” the official clarified. White House deputy press secretary Andrew Bates confirmed that Biden was seen for his cold and was recovering well.
The 81-year-old president disclosed this during a meeting with over 20 governors, prompted by a question about his physical condition. Biden knocked on wood for effect, emphasizing his health.
White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre sidestepped questions about a professional health evaluation following the debate, stating that the president has regular annual physicals documented in thorough reports.

The meeting, organized amid rising concerns within the Democratic Party about Biden’s age and cognitive fitness, saw several governors expressing public support for the president. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer tweeted, “@JoeBiden is our nominee. He is in it to win it, and I support him.”

However, only three governors stayed to speak with reporters after the meeting. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul stated that all governors present pledged their support, emphasizing the high stakes of the upcoming election.
Despite the public support, Democratic staffers remain concerned about Biden’s political future. Reports suggest Biden has indicated to two allies that he might need to step aside if he cannot regain his political footing soon.
