Police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Hollyoaks actor Paul Danan, who passed away at the age of 46.
The actor, known for his role as Sol Patrick in Hollyoaks, died earlier this week. His management announced the heartbreaking news, writing:
“It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of @pauldanan at just 46 years old. Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many.
His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him.
“During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul’s family, friends, and colleagues. No further comments will be made at this time.”
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed officers responded to a call in Brislington, Bristol, at approximately 5:20 p.m. when paramedics declared a man in his 40s dead at the scene.
A spokesperson said, “His family have been notified, and our thoughts are with them. They have asked for privacy during this challenging time. His death is not being treated as suspicious, and officers are preparing a file for the coroner.”
Paul Danan had spoken openly about his struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, sharing his journey to recovery and his commitment to sobriety.
Despite being sober for over three years, he experienced a serious health scare last year when he collapsed from breathing difficulties.
In an interview, Danan recalled: “I was upstairs puffing on my vape, then suddenly I lost my breath and collapsed. My family called for help and gave me CPR before paramedics arrived. I ended up in ICU with pneumonia, and doctors warned my family I might not make it through the night.”
He shared that doctors issued a stark warning: “The doctor told me, ‘Paul, this was serious. If you don’t stop now, you’ll be on oxygen later in life.’”
Danan admitted he had wrongly believed vaping was a safer alternative to smoking but acknowledged, “It pushed me over the edge.”
