A man, previously reported as kidnapped, has been discovered “safe and well” following a coordinated effort involving law enforcement agencies.
The PSNI initiated a major investigation after receiving reports of a man being forcibly taken into a white BMW X6 in Belfast.
According to sources revealed to The Irish Sun, the man’s partner trailed the vehicle to the border before losing track of it.
Concurrently, the PSNI alerted the Garda National Drugs and Organized Crime Bureau about the incident.
The vehicle was subsequently spotted at the M1 toll before being observed by Garda Traffic Corps heading towards the M50 after 9.40 pm.
Upon reaching the M50, it was intercepted by the Armed Support Unit, leading to the liberation of the kidnap victim.
A firearm was recovered from the car, resulting in the arrest of four individuals, three from Galway and one from the Clondalkin area.
A Garda spokesperson stated, “Four adult males, occupants of the car, were arrested at the scene for alleged offences under the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.” The firearm retrieved from the vehicle is undergoing technical and ballistic examination. At the same time, all four suspects remain in custody under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007, at Garda Stations in the Dublin Region.
Additionally, the fifth adult male occupant of the car, who was initially reported missing from Belfast, has been located safe and unharmed.
Investigations are ongoing, with a technical examination underway on the firearm recovered. An Garda Síochána pledges continued cooperation with the Police Service of Northern Ireland.
Furthermore, authorities emphasize the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies in swiftly responding to such incidents and ensuring public safety.
The successful resolution of this case underscores the effectiveness of joint operations and highlights the dedication of law enforcement personnel to safeguarding communities.
Residents in the area are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities as ongoing efforts continue to maintain security and address criminal activities. The public’s cooperation and support are invaluable in assisting law enforcement agencies in their mission to uphold law and order.
