Paul Pogba, the French midfielder and former Manchester United player, has postponed his anti-doping hearing to an unspecified date.
Initially scheduled for January 18, the hearing was moved after Italy’s anti-doping tribunal accepted a request from Pogba’s lawyers. The 30-year-old footballer faces a potentially lengthy ban following the hearing at the NADO tribunal in Rome.
According to M10News, prosecutors have called for Pogba to be banned for four years following his provisional suspension in September. However, Pogba could reduce his requested ban by half if he can demonstrate that he did not intentionally dope.
Additionally, he may only be suspended for a few months if he can prove that the banned substance was removed from competition and did not impact his performance. Pogba’s representatives have stated that the testosterone came from a food supplement prescribed by a doctor he consulted in the United States.
Neither the tribunal nor Pogba’s representatives have commented on the matter.
