A light aircraft crashed into a busy road in Gloucestershire yesterday afternoon, but both the pilot and passenger survived the incident with only minor injuries.
The crash occurred at 4:45 pm on the A419, near Aston Down Airfield in Frampton Mansell, which is situated between Cirencester and Stroud.
Photos from the scene show the pilot and passenger peering out of the aircraft’s window after the crash. The air ambulance, which had arrived at the scene, was stood down as the injuries were not serious.
Witnesses reported that the aircraft appeared to have stalled before it nose-dived into the road. The crash resulted in significant traffic delays, with images showing heavy tailbacks and increasing congestion on the road.
Gloucestershire Constabulary issued a statement advising motorists that road closures are in place while emergency services manage the scene. The two occupants on board will be assessed by the ambulance service. Authorities confirmed that no other vehicles were involved in the incident.
