Ontario Man Claims Neighbour Deliberately Sprayed Him with Water Gun Amid Years of Harassment

Sheehan Rochester, a 49-year-old resident of Simcoe, Ontario, is speaking out about a recent incident involving his neighbour, Wendy Washik, who was charged with assault after he reported being sprayed with a water gun.

Rochester insists that there’s more to the story, claiming he has security footage that reveals a different perspective.

Rochester alleges that he has endured years of racially charged harassment from a group of neighbours, culminating in what he describes as an assault on September 1. He accuses Washik, 58, of intentionally spraying him with a water gun, while she maintains that the spray was accidental.

“It was kind of to strip me of my integrity, to strip me of my dignity,” Rochester explained, expressing his desire for peace in his home. “We have a right to live in our home in peace … we don’t need to be accosted where we live.”

Earlier this month, Washik told The Canadian Press that she was engaged in a light-hearted water gun fight with a child during a neighbourhood gathering when she accidentally sprayed Rochester in the chest. She stated that, despite her apologies, he contacted the police.

Upon the arrival of Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Washik claims the officers did not ask her any questions and charged her with assault with a weapon; this charge has since been downgraded to assault.

However, Rochester’s security footage reportedly provides a different narrative. The video allegedly shows him preparing his lawnmower around 6 p.m. ET when Washik approaches him alone, standing at the end of his lawn and greeting him. Rochester does not appear to respond and continues mowing while Washik watches him for several minutes, occasionally waving. “It was extraordinary and creepy,” he remarked.

As tensions continue to simmer in the neighbourhood, both residents are awaiting further developments regarding the incident.
