One person has died following what gardaí are describing as a “serious incident” at a residential care facility in north Dublin on Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were called to a property in the Grattan Wood area of Donaghmede shortly before midday after reports of a violent altercation.
Sources told M10News the incident involved several non-national juveniles and took place within what is believed to be a care or supported living facility.
Paramedics and multiple Garda units responded quickly, but one man was pronounced dead at the scene. The area was sealed off as forensic teams began examinations shortly after noon.
In a statement released just after 1 pm, a Garda spokesperson said: “An Garda Síochána is currently responding to a serious ongoing incident at a residential location in Dublin 13 today, Wednesday 15th October 2025. As this is in its early stages, no further information is available.”
Residents reported hearing “screaming and shouting” moments before emergency crews arrived, with one witness saying they saw a man being taken out on a stretcher.
Detectives from Coolock Garda Station are leading the inquiry, and a murder investigation is expected to be launched once the post-mortem examination is complete.
Officers have begun door-to-door inquiries and are appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage from the area between 10 am and 12 pm to come forward.
The identity of the deceased has not been released, and efforts are underway to notify family members.
The property remains sealed off under Garda guard as forensic teams continue their investigation into the fatal incident.
