Actress Olivia Munn, known for her role in “Newsroom,” is using her platform for a meaningful cause.
The 44-year-old is featured in a new ad campaign for Kim Kardashian’s Skims, showcasing several bestselling products, including the brand’s viral push-up bras.
In a series of striking photos, Munn models the Ultimate Nipple Bra, priced at $64, and the Ultimate Teardrop Push-Up Bra, available for $60.
One particular shot features her bare chest, proudly displaying a scar from her double mastectomy and breast reconstruction.
Munn expressed her gratitude in a press release, stating, “It’s an honor to partner with Skims and Susan G. Komen on this incredible campaign.
This cause is deeply personal to me, and I’m proud to help drive awareness and conversation around it.” The campaign aligns with Skims’ initiative to donate 10% of bra sales from October 23 to October 31 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
She added, “Skims’ commitment to empowerment and community aligns perfectly with the message of this campaign, which is all about confidence, comfort, and feeling your best self. That’s exactly how I felt shooting this.”
Sharing her experience on Instagram, Munn revealed her decision to embrace her mastectomy scars, writing, “In the middle of this latest @Skims bra campaign shoot, I decided I was done being insecure about my mastectomy scars.
Every mark life has left behind on my body is proof of how hard I fought. I hope other women who have been self-conscious about their scars see this photo and feel all the love I’m sending.”
Earlier this year, Munn bravely opened up about her battle with breast cancer, which she was diagnosed with in April 2023.
She underwent treatment and multiple surgeries, and she later admitted that she had tried to conceal her “battle wounds” during red carpet appearances.
“I have some divots and dents on one side of my body near where the lymph nodes were, and they had to really dig out,” she explained in a previous interview. “And I’ve been wearing some dresses on the red carpet that made me a little stressed out at times.”
In a candid podcast discussion, Munn recounted her emotional response upon seeing her body for the first time after the double mastectomy, before receiving permanent implants.
“I was by myself in my bathroom, and I looked at them, and I cried in a way that I don’t think I’ve ever cried in my life,” she said. “I cried. I was devastated. I didn’t recognize myself.”
She expressed her mixed feelings regarding the replacement implants, which had to be larger due to the amount of tissue removed. “You think, ‘I’m here.’
All I care about is that I’m alive and I’m here for my baby,” she said. “But putting that to the side, one day people will forget or not know, or maybe I’ll never tell people that I had cancer, but they’ll look at me and go, ‘Oh, what a bad boob job. Oh, look at her.’”
Before her treatment, Munn froze embryos with her now-husband, comedian John Mulaney, with whom she shares a son, Malcolm. The couple welcomed their daughter, Méi, via surrogate last month.
