Ohio police were compelled to fatally shoot Charles Alexander during a tragic confrontation after he threatened to kill himself and his 7-year-old daughter, Oaklynn, during a standoff in a parking lot. The tense situation began when officers deflated Alexander’s tyres, stopping his vehicle.
Chilling 911 audio reveals the armed father making alarming threats. “I will shoot us both; stand back!” Alexander yelled. Oaklynn’s desperate voice can be heard in the background, repeatedly pleading, “Please don’t.”
At one point, Alexander directed threats toward the child’s mother, saying, “I wanna talk to her mother. If you’re listening, Ashley, you should’ve called.”
The 911 call took an even darker turn when Oaklynn asked her father, “Are we both going to heaven?” Her father’s response led her to cry out, “No! I don’t want to go to heaven today.”
Police and 911 dispatchers worked to de-escalate the situation. One dispatcher assured Alexander, “Let’s not do anything we can’t undo.” Another urged him to focus on his daughter, saying, “You love her, I know you do. Let’s not make this more unfair to her.”
Despite their efforts, the standoff ended tragically when officers opened fire, killing Alexander. Oaklynn was rescued and returned safely to her family, though visibly shaken. “I don’t want to go to heaven today,” she sobbed repeatedly during the ordeal.
Following the tragedy, a family friend launched a GoFundMe campaign to support Oaklynn’s recovery. The funds will help cover her mother’s time off work, mental health care, and other future expenses. As of Sunday, the campaign had raised nearly $8,000.
This devastating incident has left a community grieving while rallying to support a young girl who endured unimaginable trauma.
