Norwegian Princess’ Son, Arrested for Alleged Rape in Oslo, Facing Multiple Charges
The 27-year-old son of Norwegian Crown Princess Mette-Marit, Marius Borg Høiby, was arrested in Oslo on Monday evening on suspicion of rape. This marks his third arrest in recent months, following a series of troubling incidents.
Høiby is facing a preliminary charge related to an alleged sexual assault on a woman who was reportedly unable to resist the act. However, the exact timing of the incident has not been disclosed. Police confirmed that authorities, not the victim, initiated the case.
Authorities have not disclosed when the alleged incident took place but have confirmed that the victim, who lawyer Hege Salomon is representing, was unable to resist the act. Salomon stated that the victim was struggling emotionally, and it was the police who initiated the case, not the accuser. Høiby has denied the allegations, according to local reports.
This arrest comes on the heels of a prior legal issue in August when Høiby was detained after being accused of domestic violence involving a different woman. At that time, authorities discovered a knife lodged in the wall of the woman’s bedroom.
In addition to the accusations of assault, Høiby faces multiple preliminary charges, including violating restraining orders and driving without a valid driver’s license. Police have confirmed that the new case involves multiple women and at least one man.
Høiby was reportedly with the same woman from the August incident when he was arrested on Monday. Despite his legal troubles, he continues to live with the royal family, including his step-siblings, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus, although he does not hold any official royal duties.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit, who made headlines in 2001 when she married Prince Haakon, heir to the Norwegian throne, has kept a relatively low profile regarding the latest developments surrounding her son. However, the ongoing legal troubles surrounding Høiby have drawn significant attention in Norway and internationally.
