WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nikki Haley, the former South Carolina governor and Trump primary challenger, cautioned Republicans to prepare for Democrats to replace President Biden with a “younger” and more “vibrant” candidate. She reiterated her call for cognitive tests for all federal office candidates.

“They are going to be smart about it. They’re going to bring somebody younger. They’re going to bring somebody vibrant. They’re going to bring somebody tested,” Haley told the Wall Street Journal on Saturday. She stressed the need for Republicans to get ready for this potential change, claiming that allowing Biden to remain the candidate could lead to the downfall of the Democratic Party.

Haley’s comments follow calls from some Democrats for Biden to withdraw from the race after his debate performance against former President Trump.

Reflecting on Biden’s performance, Haley remarked, “Our enemies just saw that they have between now and Jan. 20 to do whatever they want.”

Despite their contentious primary, Haley confirmed her intention to vote for Trump in November. She mentioned having a recent “good conversation” with the former president, who believes she will be “on our team in some form.” Haley previously served as Trump’s United Nations ambassador.

On Saturday, Haley took to X to express her concerns: “America deserves the strongest leader possible. Thursday night was shocking. It’s exactly why I have been calling for mental competency tests for anyone running for office. Joe Biden owes the American people transparency about his cognitive abilities.”

She also highlighted the need for voters to understand the capabilities of their leaders, adding that Washington, D.C., is “full of older people.”

Haley’s remarks elicited a response from Biden spokesperson Ammar Moussa, who invited Haley’s supporters disillusioned with Trump to join Biden’s coalition.

During the Republican primary, Haley also questioned Trump’s cognitive abilities, citing an incident where he confused her with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Haley, 52, suggested that Democrats could face down-ballot losses if they persist with Biden as their nominee, arguing, “If they continue down this path, and they have Biden as their nominee, they are committed to hurting America.”
