Nikki Haley to Vote for Trump in 2024 Rematch, Citing Biden’s ‘Catastrophe’
Former U.N. ambassador and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, in her first public remarks since ending her 2024 Republican White House campaign, stated that she will be casting her vote for former President Donald Trump in his 2024 rematch against President Biden.
Haley, who was Trump’s final competitor in the GOP primaries before suspending her campaign over two months ago and has not endorsed the former president, was asked during a Q&A session following her speech at a conservative think tank in Washington, D.C., about which candidate, Biden or Trump, had a firmer stance on national security issues.
While acknowledging that Trump’s policies have not been flawless, Haley emphasized that Biden’s performance has been catastrophic. Therefore, she confirmed her support for Trump by stating, “So I will be voting for Trump.”
Despite her decision to back Trump, Haley, who continues to garner up to 20% of the vote in Republican presidential primaries even after ending her campaign, she stressed the importance of Trump reaching out to the millions of people who voted for her and continue to support her.
Haley initiated her presidential campaign in February of the previous year, becoming the first significant contender to challenge Trump, who had announced his candidacy three months earlier. Furthermore, she was Trump’s final opponent, engaging in a contentious two-candidate showdown with the former president from the New Hampshire primary in late January through Super Tuesday in early March.
On March 6, the day after Trump triumphed in 14 out of 15 GOP nominating contests on Super Tuesday, Haley announced suspending her White House campaign.
However, when she exited the race for the Republican presidential nomination, Haley made it clear that she intended to continue speaking out.
To date, Haley has refrained from endorsing Trump.
“It is now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond it who did not support him. And I hope he does that,” Haley stated when she withdrew from the race two months ago.
During her speech on Wednesday, Haley directed her criticism towards Biden and Republicans in Congress, but she did not elaborate further.
