MSNBC Slammed for Desperate Spin on Trump’s McDonald’s Visit: ‘Drives the Left Crazy’
Former President Donald Trump’s light-hearted visit to a McDonald’s in Feasterville, Pennsylvania, over the weekend sparked heated reactions from left-leaning media outlets, including MSNBC and Rolling Stone.
Critics labelled the visit as part of Trump’s 2024 campaign trail through a critical battleground state, as a “stunt” and “bizarre.”
Trump’s appearance behind the counter, serving fries and greeting customers, was ridiculed on MSNBC’s “Alex Witt Reports. ” Host Alex Witt questioned the logic of the visit, calling it attention-seeking and bizarre. Other outlets, including Rolling Stone and The New York Times, joined the fray, criticising everything from Trump’s French cuff shirt to his culinary skills.
The backlash from media outlets was met with a wave of online defence for Trump, with thousands of social media users mocking the critiques as elitist and out of touch. One user on X (formerly Twitter) quipped, “He’s a threat to our democracy, how? By handing out Happy Meals?” The post echoed the sentiments of many who saw the media’s response as overreacting to a casual, relatable campaign stop.
Supporters pointed to Trump’s ability to connect with everyday voters, contrasting the media’s negative coverage with his popularity among his base. Critics also noted that similar stunts by Democratic politicians had been treated differently, drawing comparisons to Vice President Kamala Harris’s border visit, which was widely praised.
Despite the media scrutiny, Trump’s McDonald’s visit captured widespread attention, generating millions of views and adding another layer to the ongoing battle between Trump and the left-leaning press as the 2024 election approaches.
