A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed for making abusive and misogynistic remarks towards female colleagues.
PC Terrence Ellis, who served in the Parliamentary and Diplomatic Command, was terminated following a four-day gross misconduct hearing that revealed evidence of “disgusting behaviour and language.”
The hearing concluded on Friday and found Ellis guilty of using threatening, abusive, or insulting words and behaviour towards a female colleague, along with making sexist and misogynistic comments towards another. He had been suspended since September 2022 after a complaint was lodged.
Chief Superintendent Andy Burton, responsible for the command, strongly supported the dismissal, stating, “PC Ellis’s disgusting behaviour and language has led to his dismissal, a decision I fully support and welcome.” Burton emphasized that such conduct is unacceptable within the organization and commended the officers who challenged Ellis’s behaviour.
Following his dismissal, Ellis will be added to the barred list maintained by the College of Policing, preventing him from being rehired by any police force or fire service.
