Melinda French Gates has denied speculation regarding her alleged second marriage.
There were rumours about her engagement with her previous boyfriend, Jon Du Pre, a former Fox News correspondent, which she has now dispelled.
The rumours were triggered by her appearance with a giant diamond ring. However, a spokesperson has confirmed to Page Six that French Gates is not engaged and is no longer in a relationship with Du Pre.
The philanthropist, aged 59, was recently photographed in New York City disembarking a helicopter with a male assistant.
Despite her casual attire, including capris and a white blouse, attention was drawn to the bauble adorning her left hand, which she used to carry her large Chanel tote.
French Gates and Du Pre were first linked in 2022, notably attending a Nets and Celtics game in April.
TMZ reported that the former couple and some family members stayed at Pelican Hill, a luxury hotel in Newport Beach, Calif., during their relationship.
Meanwhile, French Gates’ ex-husband, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, announced their split in May 2021 after 27 years of marriage. Their divorce was finalized three months later, with the couple expressing their decision to end their marriage after extensive deliberation and efforts to salvage their relationship.
Addressing concerns about her ex-husband’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, French Gates told Gayle King on “CBS Mornings” that she vehemently disapproved of Gates’ meetings with Epstein. She described Epstein as vile and evil personified, expressing empathy for the women affected by his actions.
Bill Gates, aged 68, has been romantically involved with Paula Hurd, the widow of late Oracle CEO Mark Hurd, since 2023. The couple debuted on the red carpet at the 10th Breakthrough Prize Ceremony at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles earlier this month.
