First Lady Melania Trump will make her first solo public appearance on Capitol Hill on Monday since President Donald Trump took office in January.
She will join lawmakers for a roundtable discussion in support of the “Take It Down Act.”
The bipartisan bill, co-sponsored by Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), aims to protect victims of the nonconsensual sharing of sexual images, including those created by artificial intelligence or “deepfake porn.”

The legislation would criminalize the publication or threat of publishing nonconsensual intimate imagery.
Websites and social media companies would be required to remove the content within 48 hours of receiving a request from the victim, with efforts to eliminate copies. The Federal Trade Commission would handle enforcement of the law.

Sen. Cruz will join the first lady for the event, alongside other advocates for the bill.
The “Take It Down Act” passed the Senate in February and now awaits approval in the GOP-controlled House before President Trump can sign it into law.

During her husband’s first term, Melania Trump spearheaded the “Be Best” initiative, focusing on online safety.
The first lady is also expected to attend President Trump’s joint address to Congress on Tuesday.
