Melania Trump Slams Jill Biden Over Post-Assassination Outreach, Doubts Her ‘Genuine Concern’
Melania Trump, the former and soon-to-be First Lady, revealed in an exclusive interview with ‘Paris Match’ that First Lady Jill Biden reached out to her following the July 13 assassination attempt on President-elect Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.
However, Melania doubts Jill Biden’s sincerity, citing past remarks where the current First Lady referred to her husband as “evil” and a “liar.”
“I do question, however, whether Jill’s concern was genuine, as a few days prior she referred to my husband as ‘evil’ and a ‘liar,’” Melania said, suggesting that the political climate fuelled by harsh rhetoric contributed to the attack. “It was obvious that the onslaught of rhetoric from Democrat leaders and the mainstream media was so deeply embedded in our nation’s consciousness it prompted an attempt to assassinate Donald.”
Melania, 54, also recounted the relief she felt upon learning that her husband was safe after the close call with death. She criticised the toxic political environment, stating, “The Democrat political engine peddles harsh words, vile names, and labels our nation’s 45th president a threat to democracy.’” She also lamented how society has become desensitised to violence, saying, “People today are so desensitised they joke about killing a former US president.”
Despite this tension, Melania chose not to participate in the traditional tea between First Ladies during the transition period, while her husband, Donald Trump, met with President Biden to discuss the transfer of power. A statement from her office confirmed she would not attend the meeting at the White House, citing her support for her husband’s return to the Oval Office and her wish for his success during the transition process.
Sources indicated that the 2022 FBI raid on Mar-a-Lago also influenced Melania’s decision to skip the tea with Jill Biden. She also dismissed rumours that she would not return to the White House full-time with her husband, emphasising that “several unnamed sources in the media continue to provide false, misleading, and inaccurate information.”
In place of the traditional tea, Jill Biden, 73, sent her husband a letter congratulating him on his victory in the 2024 election and reaffirming her team’s readiness to assist with the transition. Jill Biden also joined President Biden in welcoming Donald Trump to the White House on Wednesday.
