Melania Trump Demands Answers Over Husband’s Assassination Attempt, Questions Law Enforcement’s Actions
Former First Lady Melania Trump demanded answers on Tuesday regarding the recent assassination attempt on her husband, Donald Trump, questioning law enforcement’s actions during the bloody ordeal.
“The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience,” Melania Trump said in a 30-second video posted on her social media accounts. “Now, the silence around it feels heavy.” She went on to question why law enforcement officials did not arrest the shooter before the speech, asserting that there is more to the story that needs to be uncovered.
The video, released ahead of Trump’s first debate with Vice President Kamala Harris later that day, also promoted Melania’s forthcoming memoir, “Melania.” This is one of the rare instances Melania has directly addressed the assassination attempt that occurred at her husband’s campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Melania had issued a statement expressing gratitude to law enforcement for their protection. “When I watched that violent bullet strike my husband, Donald, I realized my life, and Barron’s life, were on the brink of devastating change,” she had said. “I am grateful to the brave secret service agents and law enforcement officials who risked their own lives to protect my husband.”
Melania’s latest remarks come as multiple agencies continue to investigate how the would-be assassin, 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, managed to evade security and open fire from a rooftop during the crowded rally.
