Melania Trump Condemns FBI Raid on Mar-a-Lago, Calls It a ‘Warning to All Americans’

Former first lady Melania Trump took to social media on Saturday to criticise the FBI’s 2022 raid on her Mar-a-Lago residence, describing it as a violation of her privacy and a cautionary tale for all Americans. In a video posted to her X account, Trump expressed shock over the incident, stating, “I never imagined my privacy would be invaded by the government here in America.”

Trump emphasised that her experience is a broader warning about safeguarding citizens’ freedoms and rights. “This is not just my story; it serves as a warning to all Americans,” she said.

The video comes as former President Donald Trump prepares to sue the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) for $100 million in damages related to the Mar-a-Lago raid. His legal team claims the search, conducted on August 8, 2022, during a federal investigation into the alleged mishandling of classified documents, was politically motivated.

Trump attorney Daniel Epstein accused the DOJ and FBI of failing to follow established protocols, stating the raid was a “clear dereliction of constitutional principles” and an attempt at “political persecution.”

Epstein further argued that the former president had a “clear expectation of privacy” at his Palm Beach estate and that the FBI’s actions represented “a severe and unacceptable intrusion.” He also revealed plans to pursue punitive damages as part of the lawsuit.

“For these harms to President Trump, the respondents must pay punitive damages of $100 million,” Epstein wrote in a legal statement, underscoring the severe nature of the allegations.

This is the second video Melania Trump has posted recently as she promotes her forthcoming memoir, Melania, which is set for release on October 1.

The book promises to provide an intimate look into her life, detailing her journey through personal and public challenges. It includes stories and images never before shared with the public.

Her first video, released earlier in the week, focused on the July 13 assassination attempt on her husband. In the video, she questioned why law enforcement failed to arrest the shooter before the attack. “The attempt to end my husband’s life was a horrible, distressing experience,” she said, adding that “there is more to the story, and we need to uncover the truth.”

Following the assassination attempt, Melania Trump called for national unity, urging Americans to “reunite” and bring “common sense and courage” to the forefront. She described the emotional toll the incident took on her and her family, particularly their son Barron.
