In a surprising public endorsement, media personality and podcaster Megyn Kelly appeared at Donald Trump’s campaign rally in Pittsburgh on Monday, throwing her support behind the former president.

She cited the Democratic Party’s stance on illegal immigration and transgender policies as critical factors in her decision to back Trump.

Kelly addressed the crowd, voicing her concerns over cases where illegal migrants were accused of violent crimes against young Americans, including Georgia college student Laken Riley, 22, and 12-year-old Texan Jocelyn Nungaray. She directly criticised Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of intentionally opening the southern border, which Kelly claimed had led to these incidents. “This is a choice,” Kelly stated, placing the blame squarely on the Democratic leadership.

The host of The Megyn Kelly Show also referenced incidents related to transgender policies, including one in North Carolina where a high school volleyball player suffered severe injuries after a transgender girl spiked a ball at her during a game in September 2022.

Kelly voiced opposition to Democrats who support allowing transgender women and girls to use girls’ locker rooms and bathrooms. “He [Trump] will be a protector of women,” she declared, standing alongside the 78-year-old candidate.

In support, Kelly praised Trump’s stance on gender policies in sports and expressed confidence that he would protect female athletes.

“He will close the border, he will keep the boys out of girls’ sports,” she asserted, adding that Trump would also advocate for young men and boys who she said were being overlooked. “Our forgotten boys and our forgotten men,” she remarked.

Kelly’s speech delved into her views on the social and economic impact of current policies on blue-collar workers, contrasting their perspectives with the celebrity supporters of the Democrats. “Men with the beards and the tats don’t want to be judged by celebs like Oprah and Beyoncé,” she said, suggesting that these public figures are far removed from the realities of working-class Americans and shielded from the economic fallout of the current administration’s policies. “President Trump gets it,” she emphasised. “He will not look at our boys like they’re second-class citizens.”

Addressing women voters, Kelly highlighted the importance of supporting men in their lives, saying, “Ladies out there who want a bit of girl power this election, let me tell you something, how can you win when the sons and the husbands and the brothers that you love are losing?”

Kelly also critiqued the Democratic Party’s stance on masculinity, swaying at Vice President Harris’s marriage to Doug Emhoff.

She referenced recent allegations in the media that Emhoff had struck an ex-girlfriend in 2012, an accusation his spokesperson recently labelled “untrue.” Kelly criticised the lack of scrutiny on the issue, contrasting it with the Republican emphasis on traditional masculinity.

“I’m not into their version of toxic masculinity or new masculinity,” she said, asserting her preference for “a president who understands how to be strong and how to fight.”

The endorsement marks a significant turn in Kelly’s history with Trump. It follows a famously strained relationship dating back to the 2015 GOP debate when she was still with Fox News. At the time, Trump publicly criticised Kelly over her tough questioning.

However, Kelly revealed that she voted for Trump last week, indicating a shift in her stance.

In closing, Kelly took a jab at billionaire and Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, who recently criticised Trump, saying he does not surround himself with “strong, intelligent women.”
