Megan Thee Stallion Announces New Amazon Prime Documentary ‘In Her Words’ Set for October Release
Megan Thee Stallion’s fans erupted with excitement on Monday as the 29-year-old rapper announced her upcoming Amazon Prime documentary, In Her Words. The film chronicles her rise to fame, personal struggles, and life experiences and will be released on October 31.
Taking to social media, Megan shared the announcement, stating, “Hotties, my documentary is out Oct 31st. I’m nervous and excited for y’all to see it, but it’s finally here.” The documentary promises “unprecedented access” to the multifaceted persona behind the artist, detailing her journey through fame, grief, pressure, and success while showcasing her most vulnerable moments.
Directed by Emmy winner Nneka Onuorah, the film aims to highlight Megan’s authentic self, with Onuorah expressing her honour in collaborating with Amazon MGM Studios, Roc Nation, and TIME Studios. “Her raw and beautiful spirit shines through in the film. She is a champion for all women who deserve their truth to be heard,” Onuorah remarked.
Fans quickly took to social media to celebrate the news, with comments like, “One thing about Megan is she doesn’t let anybody stop her shine,” and “Love that you’re telling YOUR story! YOUR Journey!” Many expressed their eagerness to watch the documentary, with multiple posts saying, “Omg, I can’t wait to watch!!” and “Oh, I’m so ready!!!”
Megan’s personal life has been fraught with challenges, including the high-profile incident last year when Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting her in the foot. Lanez was convicted in December 2022 of multiple charges, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
Additionally, Megan has faced notable feuds with fellow rap stars, including Cardi B and Nicki Minaj. Recently, tensions reignited with Minaj after Megan released her diss track, “Rattle,” which fans believe contains pointed lyrics directed at the 41-year-old rapper. The feud escalated following Megan’s perceived mockery of Nicki and her husband Kenneth in her song “Hiss.”
Megan has not shied away from addressing the rivalry, with fans noting her lyrics in *Rattle*: “Ain’t got no tea on me, this h** think she TMZ,” and “Worry about your man and your kid. Your life must be boring as f***.” Fans are convinced that these lines serve as an apparent jab at Minaj, prompting social media discussion.
In March, Megan signed a groundbreaking distribution deal with Warner Music Group, allowing her to remain independent while retaining her masters and publishing rights. She previously engaged in a legal battle with her former record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, before launching her independent company, Hot Girl Productions, in November.
Since her rise to fame in 2018, Megan has released multiple hit singles, including “Hot Girl Summer” and “Cash S**t.” She achieved her first two Billboard Hot 100 number ones in 2020 with “Savage Remix” (featuring Beyoncé) and Cardi B’s “WAP,” earning her two Grammy Awards. Her latest single, “Hiss,” from her upcoming third studio album, *Megan* (2024), recently topped the Billboard Hot 100.
Megan’s accolades include six BET Awards, five BET Hip Hop Awards, four American Music Awards, four MTV Video Music Awards, a Billboard Women in Music Award, and three Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist. As she prepares for the documentary’s release, fans are eager to witness her journey and resilience firsthand.
