Manchester United’s striker, Marcus Rashford, reportedly faces an acceptable equivalent to two weeks’ wages, which amounts to £650,000.
This is due to Rashford’s attendance at a nightclub despite reporting illness for training the next day.
As a result of this incident, he was absent from United’s recent match against Newport County, with the club attributing his absence to illness. However, eyewitnesses spotted him partying in a Belfast nightclub, contradicting the club’s statement.
United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, stated that he would handle the issue internally. However, he did not confirm if Rashford had misled him about the nightclub visit.
According to reports, United has decided to impose a hefty fine on Rashford as a disciplinary measure for his actions in Northern Ireland.
Following United’s victory at Rodney Parade, Ten Hag emphasised that Rashford’s absence is an internal matter and assured that he would manage it accordingly. When questioned about Rashford’s conduct reflecting a negative culture within the team, Ten Hag opted not to delve into the matter further, focusing instead on the game and expressing his intention to address the issue internally.
This is not the first time Rashford has caused concerns under Ten Hag’s management. Last season, he was dropped from the team for arriving late to a meeting.
